After Spending Five Years In The Navy During World War II, The Tribune Hired Sussman as a Sports Cartoonist. He Created "The Lil' Acorn," The Oaks' Mascot That Year.

Alan Trammell, The Hall Of Famer and Detroit Tigers Former Professional Baseball Shortstop. His entire 20-Year Playing Career In MLB was with The Detroit Tigers. Trammell was an Exceptional Shortstop Known For His Defensive Skills, Quick Release, and Accurate Throws. He Formed The Longest Continuous Double-Play Combination In MLB History, Alongside His Double-Play Partner, Lou Whitaker. At The Plate, Trammell was One Of The Best Hitting Shortstops Of His Era, Winning Three Silver Slugger Awards. He was actively involved in Spring Training.
