Kitpah was a boy of the Powhatan Indian tribe of Virginia. He lived during the time of the settlement of Jamestown in 1607 by the English. Among the exciting events of his story are, the first sight of a sailing vessel, an escape from enemy warriors, a battle with a wounded deer, Pocahontas saving the life of Captain John Smith, the capture of Pocahontas by the English, and her marriage to John Rolfe, an escape from a wounded bear, and the attempt of the Indians to drive the English out.
