Cigarette Lighter and Ashtray Set, Inscription 'Made In Occupied Japan' On Bottom Of Both Items.
A classic ashtray and lighter, dating back to the late 1940s during the US Occupation of Japan post WWII. Both the ashtray and lighter are marked "Made in Occupied Japan" on the base. Both pieces are made of silvertone metal.
"Occupied Japan" (OJ) is a term used for the time period from 1945 (after World War II) through April 25, 1952, you will also see items marked "Occupied Germany" - both of which are generally an insult to these countries.
