Brooch, Feather Design Brooch, Copper, Bronze In Color, C-Clasp.

The design of brooches has a fascinating history! These versatile accessories didn’t start as jewels, they began as functional items to secure clothing. The first recorded brooches were made of thorns and flint, while metal pins date back to the Bronze Age. These early brooches were practical and useful. Roman Influence Brooches developed from Roman clasps called “fibulae,” similar to safety pins. Celtic (or Viking) brooches were worn in the Early Medieval period in Ireland and Britain. They featured a long pin attached to a ring, allowing it to move without leaving a permanent hole in the clothing. During the 18th and 19th centuries, mourning brooches gained popularity. Worn after a bereavement, they commemorated loved ones who had passed away.

So, brooches have come a long way from their functional origins to becoming cherished adornments with rich historical significance!
