The 1927 Yankees seem to be the default starting point for any conversation regarding baseball’s best-ever teams, but not without intense discussion. Most experts didn’t even believe the Yankees were the best team in the American League when the 1927 season opened for business. A good majority of them put their money behind the Philadelphia Athletics a team patiently rebuilt by Connie Mack and which featured seven future Hall of Famers.
