Ole Hamann, a Danish artist born in 1917 in Copenhagen, created a diverse body of work that spans various styles and themes.

  1. Cubist “Skyscraper” Paintings

    • Hamann’s art includes cubist paintings reminiscent of towering skyscrapers. These works likely play with geometric forms and perspectives, capturing the energy and dynamism of urban landscapes.
    • His cubist pieces might evoke the architectural marvels of cities, emphasizing angles, lines, and abstraction.
  2. Expressionistic Paintings

    • In contrast to the structured cubist style, Hamann also ventured into expressionism. His expressive paintings feature broken musical instruments and romantic landscape scenes.
    • Expressionism allows artists to convey emotions and inner experiences through bold brushstrokes, vivid colours, and distorted forms. Hamann’s broken instruments and landscapes likely carry emotional weight.
  3. Postage Stamp Designs

    • Beyond canvas, Hamann left his mark on the world of philately. He designed over fifty postage stamps for the United Nations and several countries.
    • His stamp designs would have combined artistic flair with practical considerations, representing cultural symbols, historical events, or themes relevant to the issuing nations.
    • In summary - Ole Hamann’s artistic journey took him from cubist skyscrapers to expressionistic landscapes, and his stamp designs contributed to global communication. His legacy lives on through his creations, bridging art and philately.
