Rockingham Cobalt Blue and White Ball Jug, Embossed Fox Hunt.
The jug was made in a pottery mould with a highly detailed relief scene of the fox hunt.
On the body of the jug, the front has an image of the hunt master with his top hat and whip. The backside has men on horses and their hounds leading the way. Around the base, we have the dogs leading the chase with the dates 1775 and 1894. The handle we have the fox overseeing the hunt!
The jug was coated in a white glaze. Cobalt blue glaze was applied to the spout, the fox handle, and the base. The Blue fades into the white with flecks of the cobalt blue splattered on the white.
On the underside of the base, it is marked Rockingham.
