Bob Botz, a former Major League Baseball relief pitcher, was born on April 28, 1935, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He played for the Los Angeles Angels during the 1962 season. Botz made his major league debut on May 8, 1962, pitching three scoreless innings against the Detroit Tigers at Dodger Stadium. He struck out two batters, including Bill Bruton and Al Kaline. His first big league save came on June 20, and he secured his first win exactly one month later against the Cleveland Indians. Throughout his career, Botz played 35 games, all in relief, with a 2–1 record, 13 games finished, and 2 saves. In 63 innings pitched, he allowed 71 hits and only 11 walks, resulting in an earned run average of 3.43. Unfortunately, after being traded to the St. Louis Cardinals in April 1963, he never again pitched in a major league game. Although his time in the big leagues was relatively short, Botz left his mark as a dedicated pitcher who contributed to the game.
